Hello!
Erm, how did it get to be October already?
Did a pandemic happen or something?! Ha!
Anyway, bad jokes aside, we are now into October and that means one thing!
It’s Dwarfism Awareness Month 2020!
The chance for the community to celebrate, embrace and talk about our lived experiences.
There a few exciting developments coming up this month from Hello, Little Lady!
Disconsortia – At The Table
Proud as punch to be part of this consortium of North East-based artists. Each of us will be showcasing our individual work will be shown from 8th October – so keep you’re eye’s peeled for that.
My piece – ‘A Little Tension’, is a social commentary visual/audio piece on Dwarfism, Disability and Society.
#StopDwarfismHate
One of the issues I see and hear time and time again within the Dwarfism community is how certain non-disabled people think it is ‘funny’ to photograph us.
We have no say in how, where or what those photos are used for.
It can often leave the Dwarf person feeling traumatised and the after-effects of such incidents can be devasting.
To empower the Dwarfism community, I’ve created Facebook Frame and a pin button badge to enable us to talk about this despicable behaviour we face.
WayFinders
While there are A LOT of horrible social aspects to our disability, there is no doubt we’ve all had a giggle or two at some of the reactions of the non-disabled to our bodies.
WayFinders aims to turn the tables and provide us with the opportunity to laugh at the somewhat surreal moments living with Dwarfism presents.
The workshops have been kindly funded as part of the reUNION small project funding.
If you’d like to be involved, register your interest in the workshop by emailing me at steph@hellolittlelady.com. Don’t worry if you can’t be part of the workshops, there will also be a chance to join in in other ways!
The Mailing List LaUNCHED
Last, but certainly not least, I promised myself that I would create, or at least properly start the Hello Little Lady newsletter. I’ll be sharing news about my latest artwork, workshops and musings that I won’t always be sharing on social media in a monthly newsletter. If you’re interested in signing up, you can via this link: http://eepurl.com/gOGC9D.
